STEAM the Streets
Science in unexpected places For all ages
STEAM the Streets brings science and engineering experiences to students in unexpected places in New York City! Learners often experience science within the classroom, when in fact science is happening all around us: from the roots of trees pushing up sidewalks, to nests that sparrows build in lamp posts, to the steam that rises up from manhole covers. STEAM the Streets provides opportunities for learners to explore the science of their neighborhoods.
We will be at street fairs, city parks, community and church sponsored events, block parties, and other unexpected places throughout the five boroughs!
Keep up with STS!

STEAM the Streets was created through a grant from the Simons Foundation for their Science Sandbox Program. This initiative is dedicated to creative science engagement, with a particular aim of engaging people with the process of science in unlikely places in order to expand their critical thinking skills and empower them to make more informed decisions.
